What You Believe Is What You Live - Episode 25

Dr. Don Schaefer & Justin Olbrantz Episode 25

Don't just believe in it. Believe it in.

In this episode, hosts Justin Olbrantz and Don Schaefer explore the profound impact of personal beliefs on our lives. They discuss how what we believe shapes how we live--we stand by our beliefs, we defend our beliefs, and therefore, we live by them--emphasizing the importance of having a strong belief system for success and fulfillment. They break down the concept of belief from a Christian perspective, explaining that being a believer is not just a label, but a manifestation of faith. They also share inspiring stories and testimonies, including an illustrative tale about an SAT mistake that changed a student's life, and the biblical transformations of figures like Abraham, Peter, and Paul. Through their discussion, they highlight the necessity of trusting and believing in God, which will lead to profound personal transformation and success.  It all starts with your beliefs.

Episode 25 - What You Believe Is What You Live

[00:00:00] Justin: Hi, everyone. This is Justin Olbrantz. And this is Don Schaefer. And you are listening to the Wise and the Wandering podcast for those who know “the Way” and for those who are led astray. And if you feel like you are in need of some spiritual wisdom, then you're in the right place. So let's dive in.

[00:00:32] Justin: So Don, what are we going to talk about today?

[00:00:35] Don: Well, I think we're going to talk about Justin is what you believe is what you live. What

[00:00:41] Justin: you believe is what you live. Yes. So basically saying that by what your personal beliefs are, that's kind of how you live your life, right?

[00:00:50] Don: Yes. This, this is a key. I you know, you look at life itself and sometimes you wonder why some people succeed, why some people do not.

[00:00:59] Don: [00:01:00] And a lot has to do with our believing process. It's

[00:01:03] both: something

[00:01:04] Don: that's inside of us. Uh, some people call it the believer in.

[00:01:09] both: And

[00:01:09] Don: it's amazing sometimes when you talk to somebody or something's presented to someone who believes in what they do with it and how their life just explodes from there. But then you run across doubters, people who doubt.

[00:01:24] Don: And that's why this is going to be such a good podcast because I think this is going to have an answer to what a lot of issues are in people's lives. It's the believing process that they're working with.

[00:01:34] Justin: Yeah, the believing process that's been a highlight on the podcast for numerous episodes I would say and I like to say it really is all about what you believe in

[00:01:43] Don: Yes,

[00:01:44] Justin: and I think you really stand for the things that you believe in right and I think that The things that you believe in can change.

[00:01:51] Justin: Your beliefs can change. And I think they often do. And I think the importance of this episode is to show people how [00:02:00] powerful belief is in their lives. Because what you believe in is going to be exactly how you live your life based on your beliefs. And beliefs are often very special to people, but in the Christian world world.

[00:02:17] Justin: It means something deeper. Yeah, it means something bigger the believer I think I said this last week on our episode, but the believer Being a believer is a manifestation Not necessarily a label. So it is a manifestation itself the whole process of being a believer, right? You know, I hear these um, sometimes I hear this term like super christian and stuff like that these people that you know There's certain labels out there.

[00:02:44] Justin: It's not necessarily true People are believers. And the extent of their belief can change. The extent of their faith can change. We're all, , we all share the common label. We all share the common manifestation that we are believers. Right.

[00:02:59] Don: [00:03:00] Yep. And that's so true because basically everything we have in life.

[00:03:05] Don: Falls into a belief process. I think God and everything he has for man. It depends on us believing in him Yeah, and believing in the possibilities because the bible says all things are possible to those that Believe. Yes, you know, so it's all a part of believing, and so many times people struggle in life.

[00:03:25] Don: I sometimes, I look at the difference between a gold medal and a silver medal sometimes is the belief process. Winners, losers, it's a belief process. Who wins the Superbowl? Who loses? Who's ahead by 20 points at halftime and loses a Super Bowl? It's a belief process. You know, the team sometimes that is down have a better belief in themselves.

[00:03:46] Don: And I think our lives, I think God has created us in wanting us to learn how to trust and believe in Him. And there's so much in the Bible where Jesus himself is talking to people and telling them, by your [00:04:00] beliefs, let this person be healed. Yeah. And people are saying. Lord, I believe, but help me with my unbelief because it seems like there's so much that tries to attack the belief process because that's the key.

[00:04:13] Don: That's the key

[00:04:14] Justin: to success. I think so. It's definitely the key because once you got it locked in, sometimes you can become unstoppable with these kinds of things. And I think that when somebody truly has it locked in, you know, we talk about In the podcast, maybe the last week or the week before about Jesus being a teacher and teaching his disciplines right as the rabbi teaching his disciplines to his disciples to instill those disciplines into them once he's, once he's performing miracles and all this stuff in front of them, their belief is growing, right?

[00:04:47] Justin: Like you were saying, for the people to get healed, your belief has to be there for you to allow healing in there. Because the Bible talks about walking by faith, not by sight. And when you truly understand [00:05:00] what walking in faith is, you know, there's a trust there. There's a belief that it's going to work, that it's all going to work out for the good.

[00:05:06] Justin: Right. Right. It's going to work out for his good. And when you allow your feelings to dictate everything and to get in the way, but I can really control the level of belief that you're able to give, you know, because. You think about something that you really believe in, like there's certain, maybe certain figures, like certain people that you really believe in, there's a certain musician that you really believe in, and you go out of your way to show, you know, people like their songs and you go out of their way to, you know, teach people about that person and to, um, break down lyrics and stuff like that.

[00:05:43] Justin: Right. You know, that is all a representation of what we were created to do in God's image. Yeah. And to, to glorify God, to glorify his, his, his lyrics, right? His word, his book. Right. And that's, and we, and that's saying that we, Our beliefs are wrong, [00:06:00] but there is a way, there is a way to believe right, I think, and I think up until then, sometimes, until we truly learn how to believe the right way, our world can be meaningless, our lives can be meaningless, we can be caught up in suicidal thoughts, depression, because even though we have all these beliefs, they're not serving us, and they're not, they're not directing our life the right way,

[00:06:23] Don: it could be wrong, yeah, that's true, you know, and that's where a lot of people get caught up and trapped in that Because it is a belief process and you can believe in the wrong thing as you're saying Justin's So when it talks about in the Bible says the truth of life in the way He teaches us a different believing process, but I got an interesting story that I heard Okay, and I might have my figures a little bit goofed up, but I don't know the story is good But the story is about uh, they're always good SAT test, and uh, they were saying that, , and I don't know a lot about this, but they were saying 1600 is like tops, you know, and this kid was kind of a goof off, he hung around, you know, he did a little bit of, you know, a [00:07:00] little bit of everything that the boys do, and he, he skipped school from time to time, but he took an SAT, and, and he got a letter back saying that he had failed 1470 on his SATs, okay, which was great Yeah, so then what he did because he thought he was pretty smart.

[00:07:16] Don: He went and made sure he went to school He quit hanging out with his buddies and started studying went on through college Succeeding college became a I think he was an editor of a magazine of so and so leaf

[00:07:28] Justin: was growing The belief

[00:07:30] Don: was growing and then I think was Princeton They went and reviewed the SATs and this was like 13 years later He They went back and they said, uh, sent him a letter saying they made a mistake.

[00:07:42] Don: They made a mistake that he only had about 700 on his SAT. Oh

[00:07:46] Justin: man, that changes things a little bit. That's right,

[00:07:47] Don: but he believed he was smart. Yeah. And you know, so he believed that he needed to do something with this. So he made sure he was at every class, made sure he did everything he needed to do to be successful because he thought he was smart.

[00:07:59] Don: [00:08:00] Right. And so his belief process took over, you know, and that's where in life, a lot of times it's not our birthright. It's not, uh, you know, our talents, you know, it's not the skills or a lot of things of that nature or IQ, but it's the belief process. You can take people that have tremendous IQs that don't succeed.

[00:08:20] Don: They don't believe in themselves. They don't, they don't have a belief process working. So our belief element inside of us, and that's where you're right. You know, Jesus came. to give us a different belief process and everything that he has for us. It takes a belief. We have to trust him. Abraham, the father of the faithful.

[00:08:38] Don: He had a belief process. Yeah, he did. He left his land. He followed after where God sent him, believing that there was a better place

[00:08:46] Justin: walking by faith for him. Yes. And I think that's, it definitely all comes down to your beliefs. And I think we've talked about identity and stuff like that recently, and , your identity is kind of comprised of your own belief [00:09:00] system.

[00:09:00] Justin: And it really comes down to what you believe in. A lot of people's values, the principles that they base their life on are based on their own beliefs.

[00:09:08] Background: Yeah.

[00:09:09] Justin: And when those things change, it can really either corrupt a person, or it can really. , kind of blindside a person when they realize that maybe I've been believing in lies, you know maybe there's like a truth out there and you're talking about references the bible or Jesus talking about himself being the truth and I think that is really That's something that you really need to highlight and know and understand and believe in because once you see that this guy, you know, , this teacher at the time, this, uh, manifestation of God was not saying any lies.

[00:09:46] Justin: Everything he said was the truth. So when he says, I am the truth, You can believe that he's telling you the truth, right? It's all true because nobody caught him. Nobody ever caught him in a lie. No, no So you can believe that he's the truth, [00:10:00] right? So you can see where this this manifestation starts to work in your life because you understand that there is no lies there Yeah, it's all facts.

[00:10:07] Justin: Yeah, and this is why The truth is led with love.

[00:10:12] Background: Right.

[00:10:12] Justin: We lead in the truth because we know what's on our side, so we lead with love. Because, I mean, that's, that's the best way to lead. Right. But that's the way, naturally, that the truth leads.

[00:10:23] Background: Yeah.

[00:10:24] Justin: And this is why, The enemy. Okay, we'll pivot here for a little bit.

[00:10:28] Justin: The enemy, you know, the adversary. Yeah, as I think Jesus called him at the time, the adversary. Yeah. He wants to get into your thoughts, but he wants to stop, he wants to change your beliefs. That's

[00:10:39] Background: right.

[00:10:40] Justin: Because okay, being saved, Is a very powerful thing and I encourage everyone that's not saved to seek salvation to be saved right to be saved What do we save from sometimes we talk about this we're saved from our old selves ourselves We're saved from ourselves, but to be saved.

[00:10:58] Justin: I don't think it's [00:11:00] necessarily just saying I believe in jesus And I believe that he died for my sins. Yeah, and I think sometimes we're told that's the way I don't necessarily think that's the way, you know, I read this somewhere and it said that You We don't get saved to get into heaven. We get saved so that heaven can get into us And I think that is that really is the goal I mean it really is to not be jesus but That he is a pattern that we can follow.

[00:11:30] Justin: He is the model that we can follow. Yeah, and that is what the adversary wants to stop the most. Oh, yeah is seeing You being a model or seeing you be Seeing the patterns of Jesus in you and then seeing you lead in love with those patterns because he's trying to corrupt you He's trying to get you so far away from that So when you just say hey, I believe in Jesus and he took away all my sins But your lives don't reflect what you truly believe because maybe you're not [00:12:00] fully bought into the belief of that, then the adversary, you know, he doesn't really care that much because are you really changing things?

[00:12:07] Justin: Are you really going out there and really changing minds and hearts? Are you really leading in love? Are you really bringing people to understanding the gospel? Are you really, are you really bringing people to God and understanding God? And if you're not, then you're really not a threat to him.

[00:12:22] Don: That's true And we and we live in a world right now where there's so much a doubt Like you're talking about the truth. God can't lie. Yeah, but you know beyond all that, you know Our adversary as you were mentioning he lies all the time, you know father of lies. He's a father of lies Yeah, and and that's where he throws so much junk out there It's hard for a person to be a believer, you know to be able to really run with things and that's where the You Purists of things you can have the exact answer because I've had people in life That wanted to do certain things and I told them exactly Exactly what they needed to do.

[00:12:59] Don: They showed [00:13:00] some type of excitement step by

[00:13:01] both: step

[00:13:01] Don: Yeah, they showed some type of excitement, you know, but it seems like it's not eight hours of sleep, it changes something. Short lived. Yeah, they, they left, you know, with all kinds of excitement, but the next day they weren't doing anything. I know the book of James talks about this, and I'm going to paraphrase it into our language here.

[00:13:16] Don: It's like me saying to you, Justin, you know, you show me your faith. Okay, I'll show you my faith by the things that I do. I'll show you my beliefs by how I live my life, you know, and you can say you believe, but if you're not changing anything in your life, your actions, the things you're doing, you really haven't believed.

[00:13:35] Don: And that's where I think it's an element inside of us that God needs to get his hands on. He needs to get his hands on our believing, our faith. Process within us because there's a great life this, you know, what separates us from success and lack of success It's a belief process

[00:13:51] both: You know

[00:13:52] Don: in believing the the process and believing the way the the pattern that as you were saying that's laid before us So many people here [00:14:00] have a hard time to believe in anything, you know, or they're constantly feeding yourselves with lies You know, they got this little box sitting in the corner, and it continues to lie all day long.

[00:14:10] Don: But they don't seem to mind that. They sit there and they'll watch all that, because it's always put in different pictures. You know, they got different pictures, different stories, lines, all this sort of thing. But you give them the truth. You know, you tell them there is a way. And I know I was talking to my brother in law today, we were talking about how short life is.

[00:14:26] Don: Yeah. And he says, you know, it is, it's just a blink. It's a blink. Of course, we're, we've got quite a bit of life lived, but, but he says it's just a blink and it's over. And it's true. It's true. You would think that ever our whole effort would be trying to believe in whatever it is as you're saying that we can save ourselves.

[00:14:45] Don: From a process of lies and doubt because the only element that God requires of us is to believe and trust in Him

[00:14:53] both: Yes, and he

[00:14:53] Don: does the work

[00:14:54] both: Yeah, you

[00:14:54] Don: know and then when we try to do things we kind of muck things up a little bit But when God gets his [00:15:00] hands on us if we can just get an element of belief And that's where Abraham a long time ago, he believed God,

[00:15:06] both: he

[00:15:06] Don: believed God.

[00:15:07] Don: He left the land, left all of his relatives and he went to a new land and God was telling him he was going to be the father of many nations and he didn't have his first child until he was a hundred years old. Yeah. That's crazy. But he believed God. Yeah.

[00:15:20] Justin: At a hundred. Yeah. You have to have some pretty strong faith.

[00:15:23] Justin: Oh, you do. And so that trust. Yeah. That's the faith that got him through that. That's right. And that belief, , that God is going to work out all your plans because he's going to that if you give him faith If you trust in him, he's not going to let you down.

[00:15:36] Background: Yeah,

[00:15:37] Justin: he's not going to let you down because he sees your faith That's right.

[00:15:39] Justin: He wants you to walk by faith not by sight.

[00:15:42] Don: Yeah, that's true

[00:15:43] Justin: And the Bible it says that, we talked about, Paul has talked about saying that you need to die to your old self. Now, that might sound a little extreme. This is the process of being born again. It's got different meanings. But , [00:16:00] how does one truly die to their old self?

[00:16:02] Justin: You know, when you look at the Bible, right? You see, there's a, there's some people, some disciples, apostles that actually got their names changed. Okay? So, Peter was actually Simon, and he became Peter. So his name was changed. He got a whole different name because his old self had to die. He had to lose his old ways.

[00:16:29] Justin: So Don, if you all of a sudden wanted to be called Bob.

[00:16:34] Background: Yeah,

[00:16:34] Justin: and you say I want to be called Bob. It's a good name, right? Right. It's a good name and I see that you want to be called Bob, right? And then I see you live your life and I see you know what? I don't really see Bob. I still see Don

[00:16:47] Don: Yeah, I don't

[00:16:47] Justin: really see Bob.

[00:16:48] Justin: I'm gonna I'm gonna call you Don so you see How significant that actually is to change someone's name. Oh yeah. It has to be a whole transformation process. It is. And that truly is [00:17:00] dying to your old self, taking on a whole different name.

[00:17:02] Background: Right.

[00:17:03] Justin: And in that case, your beliefs have to change because you cannot be something new.

[00:17:08] Justin: You cannot be a new creation. Right. With the same old name. Old self beliefs. That's true. You have to have something different.

[00:17:15] Don: So I'm taking this as a question from you. Just

[00:17:18] Justin: yeah, sure

[00:17:19] Don: About how does one die to oneself? Well, I think it's the moment we first believe, you know We talked about this before in previous podcasts.

[00:17:27] Don: It seems like something changes there

[00:17:30] Background: You know,

[00:17:30] Don: like myself, it was many years of hearing stories about God and about this and that, but it was the day that I first believed, the first believe that God is here right now, that he created me to be successful. He wants something big in all of our lives, but I believed this and all of a sudden God started to work and the whole work has to be done by Him.

[00:17:52] Don: You know, it isn't something that I can say Well, i'm gonna go to the hardware store and get some some tools and some material and change things God has to get [00:18:00] his hands on my life So yeah I have to trust him and I have to believe that this is what he wants to do and will do in my life And you mentioned name changes.

[00:18:08] Don: Well, you know in the bible The names always represented something. It was the nature of the individual.

[00:18:15] Background: Yeah,

[00:18:16] Don: you know, that's where when they talk about taking on the name Of jesus taking on the nature of what jesus stands for if I was to become bob I'd have to take on the nature of a bob, you know, which could be good I don't know but you know in the bible it talks about taking on the name of jesus taking on that nature So when jesus was changing from a simon to a peter peter became a different person, you know And same thing from saul to paul Paul, yeah.

[00:18:42] Don: Different person, different person. You know, and that's where there is a nature change. And we should be able to see that change. I know, uh, in, in life. Because if

[00:18:51] Justin: I don't see

[00:18:52] Don: it, I'm just going to call you by your old name. I'm Don, man. I'm Don. Yeah. I'm trying to step aside. You know, when you talk about saving, it's a process of [00:19:00] me saving me from myself because Don wants to live.

[00:19:03] Don: The old nature wants to live. The old unbelieving nature wants to live. Our adversary is trying to Feed that thought into me. Wants to direct the show. That's right. But I need to say, you know what? I give up. It's amazing. You know, when you see Christians, sometimes they lift up their hands and worship, but it's actually the same pose that a robber would do when he's being arrested.

[00:19:23] Don: I give up. I give up. You know? Surrender. Yeah. And when we, when we get to the point of believing that this is the process, this is the give and take here of successful and not being successful. And that's where, if we can get ourselves to realize that we have a loving God. Father in heaven. This is believe in me.

[00:19:42] Don: Believe in me, you know, trust in me and I will make things great in your life I've got big things. I mean there's generations in you. There's generations There's people around you that want to see me in you. They want to see a name change in you In your life, they want to see a [00:20:00]new nature

[00:20:01] both: because I

[00:20:01] Don: know we were born with a, uh, with an earthly, uh, corrupt nature It was the nature of adam the fallen world the fallen nature But then the bible talks about a new adam this guy Second Adam, which was Jesus Christ.

[00:20:15] Don: He came with a new nature and once we tap into him and allow him to work in our lives, we have a new nature, you know, and all of a sudden, but it's all about belief. It takes belief. I mean, you can take, take five people. You can take five people and talk to them. One person will believe. The other people, they are so poisoned by doubt, they don't see.

[00:20:38] Don: And I know we've talked about, in the past, we talked about the dark ages. You know, it was a period of time where mankind didn't, you know, they didn't have the Word of God. They didn't know, they believed, you know, everything they heard, because they didn't, they didn't have any connections there.

[00:20:53] Background: And a

[00:20:53] Don: lot of times I look at our society today, we've got the Word of God.

[00:20:57] Don: I mean, you can go on your phone, [00:21:00] the Bible's in the, in your phone, you know, I mean, I can, I can do chapter and verse and, and it'll tell me right on my phone. And instead of having to pick up multiple Bibles, I can literally just switch to different translations. I mean, I used to spend hours putting a message together, just trying to find, I'd go into, , .

[00:21:16] Don: Concordance with a word, trying to find, yeah, where it was written in the Bible and then pull up the Hebrew

[00:21:22] Justin: definition and it's the wrong

[00:21:24] Don: place. I got to find another place, you know, and you spend an hour on that now. And so I got to talk to, you talk to Siri and I got to be careful because Siri might be listening, but I just talked to Siri and Siri will find chapter and verse right at a fingertip.

[00:21:36] both: Yeah,

[00:21:36] Don: but. Are the lights turned on? You know, is there still a darkness that's keeping people from being able to believe, you know, and that's where I always pray. I pray for an anointed word. I pray like we're talking here right now in this podcast that it is an anointed word that light can shine through.

[00:21:54] Don: They can touch the heart of the listener because that's what it takes. , it's what took place in my [00:22:00] life with the day that I found God. First believe it changed everything. And all of a sudden I felt like I was a different person. I seen things differently, you know,

[00:22:09] Justin: as I think any believer does, because otherwise, why would we continue to believe if we're not seeing positive results?

[00:22:16] Justin: If we're not seeing the changes in our life, if we're not seeing the changes in people close to us, why would we continue to believe there has to be something that pulls us in? Right. So I would just say to people out there, because sometimes it can be hard. Don, when it's, when we're talking about faith, trust, it can be hard to trust people.

[00:22:32] Justin: Situations that we're in in our life can make it hard to trust people. I know for myself, uh, the things that I've been through in my life made it hard to trust people. I did not. Trust people easily. I put a guard up a lot, , when meeting new people and even old people, you know, people that were in my life previously, and it was hard, but I would want to say this to anybody who's out there who might have trust issues.

[00:22:57] Background: Yeah.

[00:22:57] Justin: Make God trust you. The last [00:23:00] thing that you trust in if you never want to trust anybody ever again You never want to trust any person make God the last thing that you trust in and then be done and I promise you you will be , definitely surprised with the results That's true And that's just an invitation because I know he's not gonna let you down Because he wants you to change and he's waiting for that moment And I think that I just want to share a little bit of a testimony here.

[00:23:24] Justin: I realized, so growing up, I realized that I just didn't quite fit in, you know, I always just felt like there was something off. And like, I don't know, like as much as I tried to, Relate to the world. You know, I was always into like trying to set trends and stuff and do, you know, And to to go along with the world and I think I I did a good job But I also still felt like excluded like I didn't fully fit in like I was trying too hard for attention Like I was looking too hard for something that just seemed Impossible [00:24:00] to actually obtain.

[00:24:01] Justin: Yeah, you know what i'm saying? And it just felt like It wasn't like I didn't belong You And what I've realized is I don't belong to the world, and that's why I felt like I didn't belong to the world. What I couldn't connect together was that I actually belong to God. I was made in His image. I belong to God, and that's why I've always felt like I don't belong in the world, because I don't.

[00:24:27] Justin: And now that you have that acceptance, and you have that, you know, you go through that process, and you really feel included, and you feel like you belong. You can truly start to work the way that you were meant to be. You can truly start to use the gifts that you have at their full capacity. You can truly start to realize your true identity.

[00:24:49] Justin: The way God sees you, not the way the world sees you. You can truly start to create beliefs that matter and that move you forward in your life. Oh,

[00:24:59] Don: [00:25:00] yeah, that's for sure. I know, uh, as you're saying there, Justin, you know, God created every one of us with a purpose in mind.

[00:25:07] Background: And,

[00:25:07] Don: uh, we talk about believing in the process, believing in God, but God is wanting us to believe in ourselves, too.

[00:25:14] Don: And so many people live life Doubting themselves never really stepping out living in fear, you know depression, whatever it might be You know, it's God doesn't want none of that. He wants us, you know to believe in something better than that and He wants us to hope is something better and in that and that's where God is wanting us You know to get ourselves into a place where we see and think things differently and myself I I'm saying to myself, you know, I've I'm given one chance to go through this world, you know, and if there is a tool out there You know, I go to a hardware store all the time looking for tools if there's a tool out there That can help me produce that

[00:25:52] both: you

[00:25:52] Don: know, and and I believe there is and it is a belief process You know if I can get my believer up to speed, you know You know, where I can trust God for [00:26:00] everything He says, where it doesn't, even in bad times, you know, a lot of times people say that, you know, walking in the things of God, you know, is streets of gold and easy and all that.

[00:26:11] Don: It's not, you know, because it's through the tough times that we believe and trust in Him that He develops us, that He makes us what we need to be. And that's where, even though my life sometimes can be a little rough on the edges, you know, The Bible says, I count that all joy because I know my believer is still alive, you know, and if I can keep that believer in me and the beauty of a believer is we come to God and say, Hey, Lord, I believe in you.

[00:26:36] Don: What can I be used for? I know it's, uh, I know in life itself, you can ask people to do a lot of things, but when they come up to you and ask you if they can help you, it's a whole lot easier. You know, you say this guy here I can connect with. And I think God is in the same way. He says, He's looking for individuals to believe in him and come up and say hey lord, how can I serve you?

[00:26:59] Don: What can I [00:27:00] do? I want to do

[00:27:00] Justin: my part and one thing I want to say because it is it is relational This is all relational. It's all about relationship and sometimes I feel like people Don't get me wrong. You can see good things in people and then I can you know do good things with my relationship with god and that could Compel you to do good things Good things and want to seek a relationship with him.

[00:27:24] Justin: Don't necessarily make your relationship and base your relationship with God Through other people

[00:27:31] Background: right

[00:27:32] Justin: because then when somebody does something, you know Somebody becomes corrupt or whatever and does something bad in the church or something like that Then you start saying oh, I don't even know what I believe in anymore.

[00:27:42] Justin: Yeah, okay Well, you don't because you never had a real relationship. You wouldn't say things like, I don't even know where I stand or where my beliefs are if you actually had, if you were strong in your relationship with God. So it's all about having that personal relationship, [00:28:00] right? Don't let it be dictated through other people.

[00:28:03] Justin: And also, I think I said this before, just a couple of minutes ago, but don't, don't let it be dictated by your own feelings because if you don't, let's be honest, if you don't feel good, you're not good. So your whole day is off. If your feelings are off, you know, everything, if you're, if you're just not feeling good, you're not good.

[00:28:20] Justin: Everything kind of goes sideways. So having that belief, like you're saying, having that belief, having that faith, just trusting him,

[00:28:27] Mumble: you know,

[00:28:27] Justin: the things are going to work out. They're going to work out because I have that faith. He's going to, I'm going to do my part. He's going to do his part because then it's not dictated by your feelings that things can happen to you.

[00:28:39] Justin: Bad things can happen to you, because they do. Just because you believe in something doesn't mean bad things aren't going to happen to you. I think sometimes that's a harsh reality for some people to understand. That's a test of your belief. That's a test of your faith as well. But just understand that.

[00:28:54] Justin: As long as you walk in, if you walk by faith, as long as you trust that things are [00:29:00] going to work out, that God has everything taken care of for you, not worry about tomorrow, just focus on the present, trust in Him,

[00:29:08] Don: everything should be good. That's right. And God isn't looking to make appointments either.

[00:29:12] Don: You know, God is there all the time. And that's where, you know, when we reach out to Him, when our believer kicks in. When we we start to believe in our believer kicks in that's when he starts to kick in, you know That's when the things start to come together and the Bible talks about angels that everything just waiting to serve mankind you know, but it needs a believing process and And that's where if we can get ourselves into a place where we can get our believer Well nurtured, well fed, strong, fed with good stuff, good materials, good thoughts, and stuff, so that we never doubt.

[00:29:49] Don: We don't doubt, because once we enter into a doubt, that's when things start to fall apart. And there's example after example in the Bible of doubt and what it has done in people's [00:30:00] lives. But there are also examples of those that believe. You know, you take Moses in the Bible too. I mean, he believed in a heavenly place.

[00:30:09] Don: You know, even though he was raised as an Egyptian, he realized his nature and his, his heritage had a kingdom that was not part of this world. And he was willing to sacrifice to find that kingdom. That kingdom,

[00:30:23] both: you

[00:30:23] Don: know, and I always joke about him getting his first real job at 80 years old I got a few years to go yet, but uh, moses at 80 years old started to lead started to lead Israel, you know out of egypt, but There's powerful examples of those

[00:30:41] Justin: That believed and believed in themselves and because he believed he was able to do these things like parting red sea He was able to do these things.

[00:30:49] Background: Yeah You

[00:30:50] Justin: That would be incomprehensible. That's right because of his belief. Yeah, because his belief it's if you're faithful to god He cannot deny himself, right? [00:31:00] Right. So he's that faith is going to be reciprocated because it has to be

[00:31:04] Background: Yeah,

[00:31:04] Justin: just like I was saying before in our previous episode the anger from god is a settled opposition You've created the opposition, right?

[00:31:12] Justin: You've created that by Walking away from him. You've, you've created that by placing yourself away from him. It's no different with the faith. You are giving faith It's reciprocated because he can't deny himself. Yeah, so if that makes sense, so I think

[00:31:27] Don: well, yeah, I believe that this podcast here can be a breakout moment for someone, you know And I think everybody has to have their breakout break you out of your doubts and allowing god to start operating in your life Giving you new beliefs seeing yourself for what you really are and what god really is God is wanting to bless you and your belief process is the avenue And if you're not

[00:31:51] Justin: believing already then what's stopping you?

[00:31:54] Justin: Amen. Well, I think that wraps it up for today. This was a good one, [00:32:00]Justin. I think so too. Hey, we're glad you guys found your way here today, and we hope you can join us again next week for another good word. Until then, stay blessed by the best. See you guys.
